Hi, has anyone been to Hampton court palace or Windsor castle ?
If so Is there parking for a motorhome at or very near them ?
Any good sites nearby also with easy access to train or bus into the areas near the castles ?
Thanks .

For Windsor castle there is a parking facility at the Alma road car park adjacent to the Windsor coach park.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...b051d3b4145a032!8m2!3d51.4833858!4d-0.6145975

Parking is behind the office & next to the disabilty scooter hire centre. Walk to everything including Windsor central station at end of coach park.
Charge is after 7pm £1,50 until midnight . free after midnight until 9am. Charge varies during day but even if you arrive at 9am maximum charge would be £7,50 until 7pm then+the £1,50 till midnight .
No facilities although there isa water tap around the back of the scooter centre.

**oh ,payment is only cash & £1 coins. There is a change machine centre of coach park but it is shut at 7pm **

** Ideal also for train into London which is what many of the foreigners do**

Have overnighted at Windsor, the coach park is the designated area but you would be well advised to check with the attendants in case they're expecting a lot of coaches. They'll then direct you to the adjacent large car park. No facilities but, as above, it's not very expensive for a change!

Sorry can't help with Hampton Court.

C&CC Chertsey is a nice site, not to far away from Windsor. Cycle or take the train.

Ok so I've worked out a rough plan ! and will have some back up stops in case.
Long Drive to Windsor arrive at the car park around 7pm pay £1.50 till midnight and free overnight till 9am then £6 for the day to do the castle etc.
Then if room when I enquire head to camp site at apps court farm in walton on Thames only 12 miles away for the night then about 6 miles onto Hampton court green parking for the day to do the palace then back to the app court site for the night.
Then somewhere to break up the journey back to Swansea. Maybe m3 to Longleat cc site for a night or two, or somewhere else good along m4 I can't think of atm ? Can you ?

Sounds good, similar to what we did - though we went to Kew Gardens and used different sites, apart from Windsor.

Bit of a plan change. Still going to Windsor, Hampton court palace and Longleat. Harry potter studios was added to list, but on trying to book it it's fully booked for all of April ! So a day spare . I looked to see if anything other than theme parks or inner London to fill that day but nothing stands out ? Also looked along M4 from the bridge to Windsor and again nothing really interesting pops up to fill a day.
Any ideas ?
Thanks.

Jump on a train, or the tube, and visit one or other of the museums.
If you've never been to London try one of the open-top bus tours - as long as it isn't raining!

Done all the sights in London over recent years so wanted to see outer historical interests West of there. Skipping a day keeps the plan on track and still get us a week away so not so bad.

Is Bletchley too far? Very interesting exhibition.

A bit far north now plans changed but will keep it in mind next time we're over that way. Thanks.

How about Tredegar Park near Newport for the way home. There is a CMC site in the grounds.

Parked up in Windsor, Alexander car park, Alma Rd £12 for 24hrs next to car park wardens hut got us free WiFi :)
The castle and town was a 10 min walk, good for The day out.

Car park for Hampton court palace £1.50 per hour, park in coach bay's.
Short walk along path to entrance.
After only 3 miles away to Apps court farm site, £25 inc ehu for a night.

Hampton Court has parking 5 mins walk from the gate opposite the Esso garage, I have parked a motorhome there and it takes coaches etc. You can stop for lunch in Bushy Park which has a couple of car parks I normally use the one adjacent to the Diana Fountain. Bushy Park is just across the road from HC plenty of deer and parakeets in there to keep you company for lunch.
