We have decided last minute to go to France via the tunnel problem is I have twin Gaslow cylinders 11kg that are both completley full will they check my gauges if so what is the max limit is it 80% if so how can I get rid of the gas to get down to 80% had heating on 26 degrees all night and gauge has not moved off full

If you have Gaslow cylinders , then you cannot fill above 80% unless you have a problem with them.

I very much doubt they will check how full your cyinders are. They have only ever checked that the gas supply is off. I normally try lighting a burner on the hob to prove it's off.

They only check if they are turned off not what's in them

Had to laugh reading the thread title, thought it was about something else :ROFLMAO:

We have the same set up with two large Gaslow cylinders and use the tunnel a lot.
All they are interested in is, "are the valves closed".
Most times they will check, sometimes they will trust you when you assure them that you have closed the valves.
Panic not Sir. (y):D

You have got your facts mixed up @Lanerboy. Euro Tunnel have a stipulation of max 90 litres gas capacity, not 80% of whatever your gas tanks can carry.

Moderators can you please change title from log to LPG as I have fat fingers and a small phone

Don't tell me Jim is employing MODERATORS now.

@Lanerboy just for information.... fun doesn't have moderators, it's self moderating and has been since its inception in 2007.
If that doesn't work then Jim steps in.

Oh ok right then @Jim can you please rectify my spelling error in the title (y)

Doesn't matter now, you got relevant answers. And then half the answers wouldn't make sense.
Thats about the standard ratio even with correct spelling :)

We came to France via the tunnel on 29th April. Lady there didn’t check - just trusted us when I said they were turned off.

Paul

When we left the U.K. a few weeks back the girl said “is your gas off” to which I answered yes. “Off you go then” said she. Now last year they had to watch me turn it off and seeing as it was already off, I had to turn it back on first. :gum:

Our Gaslow guages only indicate the level when the gas is below a quarter full, above this level they indicate a full bottle.
As above the bottles are always checked to see if off, often by a friendly lady.

Two 11kg cylinders equal 44 Litres
Two 15kg cylinders equal 60 Litres
so using a refillable system it would be hard to get to 90 litres of gas - the times we have been they have only been interested in making sure the cylinders are turned off - - - (even though once the ignition is on the gas should be isolated on a modern motorhome automatically)

I have always thought that the top of the green sector was 1/2 and went down from that point. That seems to correlate with our usage. So it never indicates a full bottle.

I got delayed once when there was leaves on the line.....

We were searched by a VERY attractive French, armed female soldier. I still haven't got over it. She looked in every nook and cranny and I had to squeeze by to unlock or open doors.

That might be so un UK built MoHo's, like the water pump and most of the internal electrics going off when the ignition is on, but not on European vans, as far as I know.
Just about all our electrics continue to work when we are driving as does the gas heating.
We do have a Truma regulator with 'crash' sensors though.
The only time our gas is turned off is for the tunnel and, if I remember, when we re-fill the bottles.

Hmm no wondering if it was a system only the old Lunar tried on our model then (though apparently our was built in Belgium but not certain)

definitely no electrics when ignition on
and we don't get gas until the engine is switched off ??? electric valve cut-off

Most British vans used to cut the electric with ignition on but never seen one that cut the gas aswell

No, nor me.
I think the rules on cutting the electric come from outdated caravan regulations that are still carried over.
Never heard of the gas being cut off though.
Think @Madcaravanner might have a rare beast. :D
In my tugging days it was always the norm to turn the gas off before moving and I carried that on to the motorhome for some time.
Now, with the 'crash' sensors I never bother.

Richard.
