Yay or Nay?

Our Malibu is fitted with the Fiat Ducato standard alloy wheels but didn't come with locking wheel nuts. Is it problem nowadays when every vehicle seems to have alloys fitted?

If yay. Fiat originals or after market off eBay/Amazon?

Thanks.

Looking at the cost of replacement O/E Fiat alloys - or any O/E alloys on any vehicle for that matter - it was a no-brainer for me. I bought the factory lockers but from an eBay source at not a lot of difference from the knock offs.

I bought the Fiat locking wheel bolts for our Ducato shortly after we purchased it. I have now removed them because I only just managed to release 2 of the bolts when I recently removed the wheels. They and the mating adapter are now strained and damaged.
In my opinion the locking bolt heads are not strong enough especially for the 170Nm torque required (and I only had the locking bolts set to 140Nm).
To me, not being able to release a wheel if required when traveling, outways the risk of a scroat trying to nick your wheels.

personally I don’t bother with locking wheel nuts anymore. If they really want the wheels, they can get around them, but unless you have some special wheels people aren’t bothered anyway.

It takes seconds to break a locking wheel nut and van wheels are far less lightly to get nicked than car ones, not much of a ready market for them.

Not a chance!

First opportunity I get I always chuck them in the bin.

In my entire life I can’t ever think I have ever met anyone who has had wheels nicked off any car and I was dragged up in the bowels of the Black Country where car crime was and still is rife.

Fiddly, breaky, expensive, losey key, annoying piles of poop they are.

If you have normal nuts, keep them. If you have locking ones, bin them and get some normal ones while you can still get them off. :-)
