Some....good & bad!
Hi, I need to replace my locker door retainers which have worn out and no longer hold the door open.
My question is if I grind the head off the rivets, how do I get the rest of the rivet body out as there is obviously no access to the rear?
Has anyone done this?

You can't get the rest out, hopefully the new rivet will push it out of the way, best using split rivets for attaching new catch.

HI,

I just did in this summer.

My RV had a tons of rivets around back wall. i grinded (drilled) and than i pushed it into hole ( into foam), and put a new one.
I used ruberhammer and scerwdriver to punch in. Just make sure its thinner than diameter of rivet
there is no way to take out. (without a big hole)

but
If it doesn't hold the door, (and you dont wanna mess with it) try to heat it up a bit with a heat gun and push it closer together. This is how I did it when I bought the car and then used it for 2 more summers.
//I already replaced it, but it's still working//

Assuming you have both the clip part (shown in your photo) and the spigot part that "clips" into it both still attached to the panels and they're just not holding instead of removing both parts I just "increased" the size of the spigot head by adding a blob of Araldite to it.

Whatever you do don't clip them together until the Araldite is fully set!!!!!

Did this about 3 / 4 years ago and still holding very well.

Might be worth a try before you go down the road of drilling out, etc, etc..............
