Due to medical reasons we've unfortunately had to sell our motorhome and switch to the other side and get a caravan.
Pick a 2016 Sterling Elite up on Saturday and I'd like some advice regarding batteries.
We spend 95% of our time off grid and use the van 12 months of the year.
Need to power lights and Alde heating occasional tv and a quad motor mover.
We've a 150w solar panel and victron mppt controller.
I'm thinking of a 105a Fogstar drift and after all this drivel my question is can I drop it straight in or would I need expensive modifications. Budget is a major factor.
Thanks for any advice received.

If you spend all that time off grid I'd say more solar, and poss a 200ah even, but you can always nip to a site for a charge. What ehu charger do you have on board and what version mppt is it.
I'm not familiar with the alde system so don't know it's power usage.

It's a standard Swift/Sargent charger.
If you post a pic of the sargent EC unit, we can tell what amps etc
The mppt would take care of the final charge stage if you have enough sun.

Staying off grid for a long time.relying on solar in winter without driving and a b2b isn't recommended. You would need to plug in a fair bit, and have a charger that's got some Welly. My sergeant on one van only had a 10 amp output.

I'll post a picture over weekend when we've picked the van up.

Standard Sargent control system charger of that age 2016 won’t charge a Lithuim at correct voltage
