If a lithium battery is half charged and you connect to the mains, does the battery charger deliver it's maximum charge rate into that battery?

The reason for asking is some sites only have 4 or 6amp hookup, I have been offered an 80amp charger but on 4amps hookup that would be problematic.
I will have 750Ah of lithium.

Yes it will, you will need about 5A on hook up with that charger, maybe a bit more when it approaches 13.8v and above.

A 750Ah bank of batteries will happily suck down hundreds of amps if through most of its charge range. If you plug in an 80A charger, it'll eat 80A... But that's at 12v. It's probably only about 4.5A at mains voltage.

Get a couple of Victron IP22 mains chargers. They will work as a pair (pseudo single charger) and give you 60A max. They can also be used individually and also at half power, all controlled through BT app.

This gives you 15/30/45/60A charge options depending on what the supply current is. ✔️

Are there any chargers apart from expensive victrons that allow to alter the output?

How much is an 80A charger?

They will be c.£400 for a pair of IP22 chargers, which for 60A max isn’t too bad really, is it?

£200 for the 80amp.
Two blue smart would be £400, I think that's the way to go.
Thanks guys

I've got a 20A Victron IP22. After an hour or so, it gets warm enough for the fan to come on. It's quiet, but not silent. I imagine most chargers will be similar. There's an option in the app to put it nighttime mode, which I think lasts 8 hours and just backs out it down to 10A before it needs the fan?

Do I need the smart dongle to make the BT work?

Having a hunt around the workshop yesterday looking 25mm wire I came across a 15amp Blue smart that I bought but never fitted to the Autocruise, can I connect it in parallel with the two 30amp blue smarts?

I would say yes (y)
