Just wondering if anybody has done the lithium “drop in replacement” for an AGM hab battery. Both KS and Fogstar say their lithiums are straight swap for AGM etc. If anyone has done this, have they had any issues ? Reason I asked is that although my NE287 charger has a lithium profile, it also keeps the cab battery topped (AGM as well) up as does my solar, basically if I select the profile for one, it would be the wrong profile for the other. I’m probably edging toward the Fogstar as the physical size suits me better. I would look to update some of the other lithium paraphernalia at a later date to get the best out of the lithium but just for starters I’m thinking getting the battery

We have swapped to the KS Energy 200a underseat battery, just changed solar control to lithium and (from memory) the main charger to gel. All ok so far no issues, battery performance is good and charges OK, could probably do with more solar (only got 150w) but this time of year not much sun anyway.

there is some information in this thread that might help.

also i think the 'setting' on the nordelectra units relates just to the leisure battery, but you could always email them and ask

Your say your charger has a lithium profile so you should use that setting. The main job of the charger is to charge the leisure battery, any charge going to the engine battery is a subsidiary function and likely to be only a trickle charge. The NE287 blurb I found online says it has a desulphation phase, this is only needed for lead acid batteries and should not be used on lithium ones so make sure the dip switches are set to lithium.

Looking at the instructions I found for the NE287 online no mention is made of engine battery charging. This may well be coming from another component in the 12V system. I wouldn’t worry about it just use the lithium setting on the charger.

Ours is the 237 charger and has only the gel setting, fogstar and brownhills assure me its fine just to drop in , might need more modifications in the future but will see how it performs for our requirements, youres must be a newer model on the 287

Jon suavecarve has done that, but his is a new motorhome.Has your charging system got a lithium profile?
Raul and autorouter may be able to help you.
The main issue I had when changing to lithium was the nordelectronica. It is located under passenger seat on our van and to try and change the poxy little switches required the skill of a contortionist with eyesight of a sniper. It would have been a whole lot easier to remove the seat which I think we ended up doing.
The other surprising thing was the physical size of the battery, just take note of the sizing.

I went the other route and upgraded Solar with controller first, the wires were already of standard then I got the battery. I did this deliberately to wait for a drop in lithium battery prices which now seem to have settled

Best of luck
