Hi there, we had a lithium leisure battery fitted this year and now the van is parked up for the winter we have it permanently hooked up to the electric supply. we are wondering if this is wise or are we damaging the battery in any way? Thanks in advance for any help.

The general advice is that Lithium batteries do not like being held at 100% so I don't think this is a good idea all winter, what is the rest of the spec? do you have solar? is the van even outside? and then the technical bits like what charger etc.

I take my motorhome out for the odd day every few weeks to give it a run,and the b2b tops the lithium’s up nicely.

Ok, I have no idea on the charger….. we don't have any solar, and the van is outside in the garden. As we are home, I think maybe We just boost it up once a month then…….. thanks for the info

That is probably best, Idealy best kept between 50 to 80%charged when not in use.

Also as Jo662 says take the van out for a run every few weeks, bad news for the engine and other mechanical bits if it's left standing for more than a few weeks without a drive.

Brakes will seize up and corrode of not used for long periods.

Discs can rust and pads stick to them.

Moving parts can Corrode like brake adjusters.

I leave the handbrake off and chock the wheels too.

Sounds like a plan. Is it wise to put the jacks down too and take the pressure off the tyres?
