I have an Itineo (Rapido Group) A Class and the 2 Leisure batteries are factory fitted on dedicated shelves in the far reaches of the engine bay.
I am looking to upgrade these to Lithium (Probably Fogstar) batteries, but am thinking about the environmental conditions.
The Lithium's I am looking at are IP65 so I'm not worried about water or dust ingress, however, they have an operating temperature of up to 60° which got me thinking about the current Lead acid batteries. These actually have operating temperatures of up to 55° and I have not had any issues in 8 years of ownership.
I know there are different types of 'heat', with conducted being much higher than the radiated heat, but the batteries are tucked away at each side away from the hot stuff.
I would rather not have to deal with rewiring the batteries in to the Hab area and I really don't know if I have space anywhere to fit them easily.

I'd like to know if any Funsters have lithium in the engine bay and your experience of them please.

The other downside is, once the engine has cooled off, it's going to be pretty close to ambient temperature. In the winter, you might find those Fogstars are pumping precious electrons into it heating mats instead of charging the batteries.

I like the idea of batteries in the engine bay!

A bit more weight transferred forward is always welcome! ✔️

But the lithium are lighter than the leads so in this case its less traction

Companies do make Lithium starter batteries so I would imagine that temperature in the engine bay is not a major factor.
