MH
Don't own one yet
Yes, I'm not concerned with brand names of equipment, eg Dometic, Trump, Fiamma etc but only the MH brand.

So for easier reading thus using the format below, what have been your build quality niggles.

Swift - creaking bed
Swift - weak hinges
Eddis- steamy windows
Elddis - floor hatches sank

(Those flaws shown are fictional, for example only).

Thanks people.

Of the brand names of equipment you list Trump has definitely got some flaws! . Not sure if that helps!

Apologies. That Trump was meant to read, Truma. Predictive text again.

I'm doing my own build and want non of those flaws :)

Not sure if a master thread would be of use but if people think so, I'll do it when I get sufficient responses. Maybe as a thing - a guide - as to what to check before buying?

I'd just say general stuff like. Cheap, flimsy materials, stuff not screwed together securely. This contributes to creaks and rattles and stuff breaking/falling apart.

Care to be more specific? No excuse, imv, for stuff not secured properly, regardless of retail price. I'd like to know what stuff worked its way loose.

More a case of squeaks and rattles are caused by stuff not being screwed together well, not that they come loose. e.g. my overhead cupboards creak and rattle. I have tightened some of the screws holding them to the wall and it had improved it.

My Remis blind on the drivers door rattles.

I suspect that whatever you fit, you will have something that rattles, comes loose or does not work properly unless you are going to use domestic home construction techniques and are building on a 7.5t base vehicle. Our van is quite well put together but a curtain rail came away at one end, but then I'd had two children in the van the prior trip that may or may not be significant. An oven will always rattle as will a cutlery drawer unless you wrap everything inside them. As mentioned before, lots of issues with the habitation door not put right until it went back to the factory. You are building down to a weight, so in engineering terms everything is likely to be a compromise.

Having had 5 European vans over many years, 2x Hymers, N&B, Burstner, Adria, and Weinsburg, the only real niggles are with a Truma electric step (3 have packed up) and a Project 2000 drop down electric bed which constantly went wrong. Other than that all vans have been very good.
