Here is an opportunity to join us for a great weekend away at

LINTON LOCK MARINA AND CAMP SITE

AT

LINTON ON OUSE, YORK

9 - 11 October 2009

There is a field for 12 vans (may be more) with 10 amp hook up, water tap, dump/waste points

The site also hosts a LICENSED CAFE as follows:

9 am - 11am Serving breakfasts
12 noon - 5pm Light snacks
5pm - 8pm Evening Meals
and
9am - 1am or until we get fed up - as much drink as you can consume
:thumb:

Fees are as follows:

£15.00 per night plus £1 per night for hook up, for European motorhomes
£20.00 per night plus £1 per night for hook up, for the larger motorhomes

No extra for children

Dogs are welcome and there are 2 fields available where you can let them off the lead for a run and do their usual ablutions - however their mess must be collected AND put in one of the 2 bins provided.

FISHING
The site is sited on a working Lock on the river Ouse which in the summer months has a constant flow of passing boats of various shapes and sizes going through the Lock, so there is always something to see for all the family. The Weir and salmon leap are also a big attraction with visitors.

The site is fortunate to be able to boast some of the best coarse fishing in the country. The River Ouse is home to several varieties of fish including Pike, Chubb, Bream and even the occasional Brown Trout has been spotted!

Ok so now that I have got you all excited, here's what you need to do:

Click on the link below and make your booking. Please ensure you put in the message box that you are coming on the Motorhomefun meet on 9-11 October. Please also ensure you give the size of your motorhome, this will then enable the site owner to shuffle you around and hopefully get more vans in the site if possible (There are 17 hook up points in this field but he says the size of the motorhomes will depict just how many can get on)

LINTON LOCK MARINA & CAMP SITE - WELCOME TO LINTON LOCK MARINA

I am going to put this on the calendar. Please remember to let me know if you have decided to join us and have made your booking.

Considering the time of year, even if you budding anglers can't fish because it might be raining, at least you can discuss the 'might have beens' in the pub. How big was it again Geo??:Rofl1:

EVERY ONE IS WELCOME WHETHER THEY FISH OR NOT.

Sounds good but we will be in Majorca.

The pub is very good but there is no hard standing, the toilets were very very basic and a longish walk from the vans, when we where there about three years ago,

I think if you go on the UK camp site and look at the reviews for this year I think you will find things have changed since 3 years ago.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, if you want 5* facilities, you're gonna pay a lot more than £15 per night plus £1 per night hook up.

I think you generally find that at most camp sites where there is fishing etc, the vans will be some sort of distance away.

At the end of the day, a meet is what we all make of it whilst we are there. There is always something to have a little gripe about but you make the most of it. No meet is going to be 100% perfect for everyone that attends. :thumb:

I wasn't complaining, I just thought I would let you know its not perfect, we would have come along of we weren't away.

read the reviews and it doesn't sound to be any different

Hi Pammy,

I've filled in the form and so hope to join you on this meet.

There is no mention of a deposit on the form. Will it be as the Summer Chill out when you collected the fees?

Robert

THIS JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER:Eek!:

GUESS WHAT?

THERE ARE NO FISHING FEES

COS WE'RE CAMPING

All you need is a rod license
it's Open Season so you can eat what you catch and trout is being pulled out and are very tasty when they're barbequed. Unfortunately the Salmon is nearly all gone.

Any Bait

It is privately owned by the site, they own the bank, but not the water.

Now I can feel you getting really interested - cmon places are limited, don't miss out.

Sorry ,Pammy.
We would have come but it's our 40th wedding anniversary dance and lunch on the 10th and 11th.
Why do all the nice things clash?! It sounds really good.

We hope you have great weather and catch lots of ..? trout? salmon? perch? carp?- not sure what you can catch in a river, but good fishing!

Hi Robert

I asked him about deposits and he said no deposits were necessary at this time of the year.

Glad you have decided to join us, I'll add you to the list.

Has anyone ever caught a salmon in a river? Does it taste different to the ones that are farmed in the sea?

Hi John

Consider it done.:thumb:

Staging Lady: Apparently, the site owner said that if a salmon was caught, it would need to be put in clean water for a while as it would taste of the river and it wouldn't be very nice. So yes it is different from those farmed in the sea - unless the more learned fishermen know more.

Hi, we have just filled in the form so we should be joining you.

Great rally field we went with the caravan club earlier in the year ( sorry to swear on line) good site well worth going. River bus in season ( may still run this time on year check with site owners ) site owners are very friendly helpfull people. Bus to York stops & drops off right outside campsite. Rally feild holds a lot more than your rally, limited electic points. We would be going but on holiday in malaga/gib/North africa. Treating the old lass 30th wedding do this Oct 6th ( could have murdered her twice by now and been out):Rofl1::Rofl1::Smile::Smile:
