Fiat Ducato
Hi there
We have a fiat Ducato C1 autoroller 2000.
It's been parked on the drive for a few weeks now and my daughter is coming to stay. We hooked the electric up a d that's ok however the lights won't turn on, nor will the outside step. I have checked the fuses and have the leisure battery on trickle charge.
Any ideas please :)

could you have switched of the internal charger?
Thanks for the reply, I am a bit naïve, Internal Charger? Do they run off the battery or can they work just with the electric hook up

Double check the battery with a meter, make sure power is on at the panel and check the big fuse by the battery

The 12v lighting will usually run off the battery charger when plugged in. If not it usually means the fuse is gone or been turned off

is it just the lights and outside step, does the fridge work or the sockets.
stupid question but you have switched on the 12v power over the door havent you (i think it over the door on yours)

On our van, we have switches on the control panel. One is for Lights and this obviously needs to be on to get the lights to switch on. Also, we have a master switch which if switched off, means neither the sockets nor the lights will work.
Do you have similar switches?

Yes it's just those, the plugs work and fridge, I'll check the 12v power, we've never encountered that before, thanks for your advice though I'll get on to it

Yes we have a control panel and I have turned the light switch on and no luck, we have even changed the fuses, where is the master switch please

If I recall it is a 3 position rocker switch on those by the panel. Centre is off, one way is engine battery, the other leisure to power the habitation lights and step.

Worked on a friend's year 2000 van the other week and the step on that was fed from a fuse by the engine battery, but that is a swift

The lights etc run off the 12V leisure battery. If the hookup is connected, the charger charges the battery and will run the lights etc. But on most motorhomes there needs to be a 12V battery for everything to work.

If the battery is very flat, the lights etc will work as soon as the hookup is connected and the charger is switched on. The charger will run the 12V circuits and also charge the battery up at the same time.

There will be a mains charger somewhere - sometimes it's built into the fusebox, and sometimes it's a separate unit. Most people leave it switched on all the time, so it keeps the battery topped up all the time.

You need to ensure the charger is switched on and is charging the battery. Some chargers can be switched between the leisure battery and the starter battery, so you need to be sure it's switched to the leisure battery.
