Thank you all, for the suggestions. I now have two small NP17-12 size lithium batteries.

BUT, the brutal truth is that lithium batteries do not work properly in my mobility scooter.

Yes, they fit and I can charge them up and off I went, feeling pleased with it.

Until I came to stop on a slight downhill pathway. My mobility scooter uses regenerative breaking. (You know the thing with our smart alternators). The voltages are all wrong and the regenerative breaking on the scooter just does not work with lithium batteries :crying1:
And it has no other brakes.

Fortunately, the hill was not too steep and it did stop evenually. Anybody have any suggestions for two 7 ampere hour LiFePO4 batteries?
