Hi all

So I've built a 12v 280ah lifepo4 battery with Daly BMS that charges from a solar panel and victron mppt.

I've also got a separate separate sterling dc to dc charger. Does the charger need to go through the daly bms or does it connect straight to the lithium battery?

Many thanks

Your dc to dc charger needs to be connected via your BMS or the BMS will not be able to act upon the dc to dc chargers input to your battery.
All charging and discharging should go via your BMS.
If you want accurate information on the state of charge of your battery, then you should think about fitting something like a Victron SmartShunt.

Hi I'm doing the same thing just with 4 prismatic cells, total 360 amps. With a 360amp bms. I sourced a good box to put them in from Ebay (£14 good), with a van the problem I fear is stability, so I want everything secure. Lithium also doesn't like cold, unlike agm, so I'm considering a heat pad, once I learn Chinese as the bms has no english instructions😅

It is best if you place the system in a vibration-free location and provide good ventilation, especially if the battery will be exposed to temperature changes.

As said all in and out of battery through BMS.
I built 2 x 320ah using JBD BMS (200a) Heater is simplicity terminal on BMS (dedicated) via choice of temp control to. heater pad(s) about £3 Ali ex.I used 1 pad with base of box routed to accommodate and silicone pad over works very well ...only comes on if charge exceeds draw of heater.
My cells are lightly clamped.Got 1 under each seat + 2kw psw inverter under drivers and 50b2b with mppt and additional mppt Bluetooth controller under passenger side (both single standard boxer seat bases

Sorry should have added Junktek KH series shunt battery monitor(Bluetooth with physical screen) superb very accurate and around £40/45 proves BMS state of charge all but useless
