We have reached the furthest point in our first trip abroad, that being the village of Lierganes near Santander. Payback time for all your advice, so a quick synopsis for those that don't know of Lierganes.
There is a free Aire next to the train station and if it is busy, a grassed area just across the road, all well signposted. However, the grassed area quite a short steep slop on the entrance so check for bottoming out. The aire is quiet, the trains are electric, don't run late or early and are quiet too.
The village is lovely with plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars and history and a market on Sundays.
We've been here a few days now (visiting family) and have not had anyone come and ask how long we are staying, what we are doing, etc. There is wildlife park not too far away at Cabarceno (20min drive) with plenty of Moho parking too, you can overnight there by the lake also and there a couple of bars and restaurants.
Just outside Lierganes, there is Dougals Brewery, worth a visit if you like your craft ales. In the village you should try Whisky Bar Los Picos, they do their own brew too (Rocker Beer), the bottled IPA is rather good and it has a wonderful sunny walled beer garden.
