Les Villages Étapes

While trundling down from Belgium to the Dordogne on various Routes Nationales over the past few days I’ve seen some large roadside signs for these ‘Villages Étapes’.

Turns out there’s a website advertising their attractions and from which you can download a free dedicated Villages Étapes en Camping-Car .pdf guide and also a map showing locations. (Paper copies available at a cost). No doubt much of the info is available elsewhere ie. P4N/S4S etc. but it’s another handy resource in a regional format.

Although free, you have to select the items you want and place them in your basket and then ‘pay’ for them. You’ll then receive a confirmation email with links to your downloads.

Nicely helpful brown signposts - in France when the signage is in brown writing, it means its somewhere worth visiting or something to look at. Or at least, tourists do!

Saved my sanity last week when l was desperate for fuel “ why do we do this” and a sign said Etapes which l knew meant facilities were available and sure enough an Avia filling station loomed into view,phew was l sweating even more so after the bollocking l got from MrsLW for doing it again. Never again
