Hi guys. Slept on my daughters drive last night to TEST OUT RENEE!

Plugged into electricity, but nothing wirked heater, plugs etc.

My son inlaw said that even plugged in overnight my leisure battery was onky showing 9.5%, which won't be enough to heat up boiler, plugs etc???

I just presumed if yr plugged in,then electrical stuff works?

So instead if going to my holiday site, im now stuck in a cold garage awaiting a fitting if a leisure battery.

But still unsure ,why the above won't work on ehu?

All part of the Adventure, I keep on telling myself, hahs

The EHU charges your leisure battery. It does not power lights etc directly. They work off the battery which if knackered means no lighting etc.

The boiler will require 12v to work even on gas - (Not sure if you have both electric and gas on your Truma boiler. Mine is only gas.)

The one thing that should work on the right setting is your Fridge. If it does not a fuse has blown.

Do check that the circuit breaker for 240 has not tripped and that your 12V is turned on.

Do you mean 9.5V for your leisure battery? If so it has definitely had it!

When plugged into the electric hookup if nothing is working you need to find and check that the RCD has not tripped as sometimes happens. This needs to be the first job and make it is holding in the on position.

Check battery with multimeter if it's that low it's fecked. You will go through all the what ifs, charge battery, remove battery and charge, top up water and charge......save yourself the hassle and get a to know your van then fit a lithium battery. The fact that nothing worked on your 240v side is another story, check 240v fuse box, other wiser people will help. For a really basic way of thinking about it is, your EHU is similar to your house electrics and should be respected the same. Your EHU will power your 3 pin sockets as like a home does. Your 12v system is usually in charge of lights usb/cigarette lighter sockets and maybe your fridge when traveling and an extractor. These are both separate systems. However when on EHU the 240v system uses a charger to charge 12v battery.
As I've said others will help!

"remove battery and charge, top up water and charge ..."

You should most definitely not be using anything other than a sealed battery as a habitation battery as unsealed can give off fumes.

They come with a vent pipe; provided that’s present and vented properly there’s no reason not to use a wet battery.

Even sealed batteries have vents controlled by a pressure relief valve.
