Chausson 616
I have a Chausson 616 and have been having problems with the leisure battery in that when I put the van into storage for the winter with everything switched off the leisure battery is completely discharged when I come to pick it up after a few months. The van is stored inside a barn and the owner runs the engin for an hour every two weeks. The car battery is always fine but the leisure battery keeps discharging. I am in my third new battery (courtyof the seller). Any idea why this is happening? I have a solar panel on the roof but obviously it’s not functioning when indoors.
If I disconnect the battery completely when it’s in storage would this help it hold its charge?

Two points ..

Running the engine for a hour every two weeks is doing neither the engine nor the battery any good.. unless it's going out for a run and up to working temperature that is bad for the engine and the DPF .. . I would advise not to do that..

Second point..
yes, disconnecting the leisure battery is a good idea.. but even disconnected, all lead acid batteries discharge slowly over time .. make sure it is fully charged before storing ..
