Hi All, I’m hoping someone may be able to help. I’m currently driving through Spain with my family on our first major trip in our van. All has been going fine, we’ve stayed at a couple of campsites and connected the electric successfully.

We discovered the box in the first image and found that is what charges our leisure battery whilst hooked up to the mains. Last time we camped it was fine and showing it was charging but this time we hooked up I can’t get it to turn on.

So the second photograph shows our fuse area at tue back of the camper. Are all these meant to be in the position shown?

The only thing we did differently when we disconnected from the mains at the last campsite was we did not turn off the blue box before disconnecting, could that have anything to do with it?

I know power is going to the blue unit from the mains because I have checked the three pin plug it is powered from whilst hooked up by plugging in my iPhone.

Can anyone help me figure out why we can’t get the blue box working. Yep, I have pressed the round button in the centre of the blue box and also held it on in for a few seconds.

All help hugely appreciated.

Disconnect charger.
While hooked up:-
Press the test button on the RCD in the consumer unit and then switch the 2 switches off.
Switch the RCD on and then the 2 switches.
Plug something other than the charger into that socket.
If it works then as Just smiffy said check the fuse before plugging the charger back in.
Report back with outcome

looks like it is plugged into that socket? If so plug something else into the socket to see if the socket is working.
If not, then the socket is the problem, if it does work then the charger is the problem.

1st step of diagnosing the problem is isolating which part is causing it. (y)

If you have mains power at the socket, it has to be the charger. Either fuse blown or the charger packed in. If the latter get a cheap battery charger at a supermarket and use that till you get home and can buy something better

Random thought but do you have solar? If so, try removing both Fuses to that (assuming you have charge to both cab and hab)
Similar issues ourselves resolved by taking out the fuse

Yes, those trip switches are in the correct position, all UP (= ON). Just to make sure, you could switch them off and on again, but I doubt that would make any difference. If the socket by the charger (blue box) is working, then those switches are doing their stuff OK.

Normally the charger in a motorhome is left connected and switched on all the time. If the mains hookup is disconnected, it will stop charging, but the diodes in the output circuit will prevent any back-feeding of charge from the battery, so it can be left connected. So it should not be necessary to turn off the charger before disconnecting the mains hookup.

As others have said, if the socket is definitely working, then it's a charger problem. Could possibly be a fuse in the plug, but it's unlikely to blow unless there's a problem inside the charger.

Thanks for all the input.

Changed out the fuse and tested it. No issues there. I have double checked the socket is working, so power to the socket.

Looks like the charging unit has gone on the blink unless anyone else has any bright ideas.

Many thanks

Have you checked the charger connections at the leisure battery in case a fuse has been fitted there , the charger may be the type that will not show a reading unless a connection is being made to a battery.
