My digital readout on my hymerb524 shows leisure battery at 2%. Although plugged into mains, battery test on volt meter shows 12.4v. Any ideas on why the readout is wrong. New to motorhome life. Don't want to get caught out.
Thanks all

If your battery is only at 12.4v with the mains on I would say your battery has had it.
With mains on the battery is being charged it should rise 14.4v hold at that voltage for several hours then drop to a float voltage of 13.8v.
Check to make sure the battery is not getting hot, if it is turn off all charging and disconnect the battery immediately.

Put a multimeter on the battery with charger on and off - should be a big difference

Does the Hymer display panel show any voltages? Do they agree with a multimeter voltage reading at the battery terminals? The display panel has separate wires that are used to sense the voltages. Like any wires connected to a battery, they are protected by a fuse near the battery.

Next to the leisure battery there is a 2A fuse, usually right next to a big 50A fuse for the main feed to the EBL. Next to the starter battery there is a 20A fuse, which also feeds the fridge 12V element when the engine is running. So maybe the fridge is not working on 12V whil driving as well. That 20A fuse is usually next to a 50A fuse for the main feed from the starter battery to the EBL.

I think you need to check both the battery and the charger.
Most importantly check for hot battery (as Lenny said).
Are you sure your charger is actually working?
Two items I’d always travel with:
1. Multimeter
2. Clamp meter
