Hi. I have just changed my leisure batteries on my Adria 2009. Which is controlled by a LT500 unit via Schaudt unit. There is a switch on the Schaudt that says gel or wet lead. It is switched to wet lead. I have now fitted 2 x AGM 100ah batteries. Any advise on what setting I should switch the unit too?
Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the best thing you can do is get rid of the AGM's they will only last about a year with that charger.
Both settings only charge to 14.4 v modern AGM's need 14.7v they won't last if they never get a full charge.

Is the Schaudt unit an EBL, if so what model number? An alternative to getting rid of the AGMs is to get a charger that will charge AGMs properly. They are not very expensive and a good investment. You could get one that has a lithium charge setting too, for future-proofing.

If your EBL is like most EBLs, there will be a 2-way connector on the front panel labelled 'Zusatz Ladegerat' (= Auxiliary charger). You can connect the new charger there. For this to work, fit a 20A fuse in the slot labelled Zusatz Ladegerat, if there isn't one in there already. You can disable the existing charger by pulling the fuse labelled 'Internes Lademodul' (= Internal Charger Module).

The connector is a MNL (Mate'n'Lok) type, available from automotive electrics suppliers. The pins and shells are separate. Crimp the pin onto the wire with non-insulated crimp pliers, and slide the pin into the shell until the barbs click and lock it in place.

I can only add my own experience, I have been running an AGM for 8 years with a CBE charger set to Lead (it is a lead or gel charger). Plus a solar panel for when not on EHU - which is quite a lot of time.
I recently decided to replace battery as the existing one not holding charge overnight when camped for 5 nights off grid in overcast conditions.

I have replaced like for like 150 AGM deep cycle, as advised by many (sorry Lenny) that if it works for us then why change?

Thanks so much for the info. Will look into :)
