Can anyone recommend a campsite within a reasonable bus journey to the LRI. Thanks

Have lived in Leicester for 50 years. Couldn't think of anywhere so looked on sfs and was amazed how many sites and pub stopovers are listed. Don't think any are on a direct bus route to lri though. Think you may have to choose one and get a taxi. May work out cheaper to get holiday inn or similar.
Sorry can't be more help.

How long are you there for?
When my daughter was giving birth Norfolk and Norwich UH allowed me to stay in the van overnight. Her husband had a phobia about medical issues and used it for respite: I sat and talked to him through the night.
When my son in law was being treated for a brain tumour Addenbrooks Hospital in Cambridge allowed me to stay in a ground level carpark normally used by ambulances etc.
In both cases I simply rang them and asked: the worst they can do is say no!

I'm looking for 1 or 2 nights at a time, probably over several weeks. There's plenty of parking but mainly multistorey so not much use for a motorhome. Ideally looking for a campsite so free to go as I choose.

There is a campsite at barrow on soar (Proctors) which is on bus route to Leicester but the bus station is a twenty minute walk to lri. The parking at the hospital is very hit and miss with waits of over an hour for a space at busy times. There is a ground level car park but no oversized spaces as far as I remember.

I think it's going to be a struggle to park at the hospital or anywhere near it. There are a couple of park and rides I'm not sure if they have motorhome sized spaces.

I hadn't thought of the park and rides. You could stay in barrow ( or anywhere north of the city)and drive to birstall park and ride for a regular service into the city centre.

Park and rides have height barriers the nearest sites are a good 10 miles away from the LRI
Sorry but Leicester is not very Motorhome friendly

the waterside inn do pub stopovers in Mountsorrel, nice pub big car park next to the river and bus every 20 minutes into Leicester.

The waterside is a good shout. Not been for about 10 years but used to do good food. Not a place to stay if flooding likely though.

You could also ask at supermarkets. I found that if I asked and ate in the cafe plus did my shopping there both Asda and IKEA were accommodating. I always parked in a less used part of the carpark and day time only as the hospital allowed overnight parking (charged for) and I could put the overhang across the grass. Only issue was the security people checked I was okay every couple of hours!!!

I don’t know Leicester but I picked my granddaughter up from the Space Centre. I parked in Wallingford Road by the pumping station and I would be prepared to overnight there.
