Just come back from Scotland. We were in a little place called Garlieston. The better half and myself are on Lebara (Vodafone network) no signal.
The freind who came with us on Vodafone, full signal. He did some digging around online, lots of complaints about this, further digging and apparently Lebara "throttle the data" although they deny this

So Lebara not as good as it says🤷‍♂️

I think a lot of it can be down to the phones, we are both on the same network and while one of us can have full 4g the other might have little or no signal.

In areas with limited coverage or capacity (common in rural areas), or when the network is busy, MVNOs tend to have lesser priority than the operator network's native subscribers and therefore lower speeds/less signal. So its not so much that Lebara are throttling the data, but VF's own subscribers in the area are getting priority over the Lebara customers, meaning the Lebara customers get worse service.

But that's also one of the reasons why the MVNOs are cheaper than the operator networks, so in areas of marginal coverage, you get what you pay for.

Edited: its also why I'm happy to use Lebara for the MH wifi, but for my main phone I'm happy to pay the extra and will only ever use one of the owner-operators.

Sorry to hear this, we got 2 Lebara Sims recently both on Vodaphone as its the only network with any sort of signal where we live in Surrey, mainly due to trees blocking signal from masts. They work as well as the original overpriced Vodaphone SIMS, so having asked Lebara directly whether their sims offered the full Vodaphone package in terms of signal strength, and everything else, they assured me that their sims were the same.
Touring Scotland we expected to lose signal in many places, as we did, but it didnt concern us too much, as we wanted to escape from most people for a couple of weeks, We had DVD;s for the TV, not that we used them much, as we were touring, cooking & keeping things tidy in the van, plus enjoying the views on our wild camp spots.
CMC Campsites:
Like many, doubt we will experience any further problems with signal strength on a CMC site, their paid for wi fi was bad enough, but CMC prices are extortionate now, and we are fed up with being asked "Have you booked" if they have space fair enough, if not, we will move on.
When we are touring and not sticking to any pre planed route, booking sites ahead would be difficult so we just chance our luck, or we did before resigning 4 years ago.
