Its time to update you all on our progress. As New Zealand residents we had difficulty buying a Van.At first we thought of Germany but were put off there with the contact, so made the purchase in France.
Now proud owners of a Burstner 726g. We leave Tues next take possetion monday week. We are trying
to find out where to buy the gear needed for the van.Suggestions in France welcome. After the Shop
we will head for West France. We have the ASCI book and all The Aires book large maps and Sat Nav.
Shouldn't get too lost.
Anywhere near Paris I can get Funster Stickers have got C and MH club stickers plus the obligatory black
Kiwi. So if you run across us somewhere in France please say Hello.

PS thinking about this twin Lakes meet so will have a certain Black Jersey.

You seem to have it all sorted. Have a great trip. If you do goto twin lakes see you there.

Try Decathlon stores they are in most out of town Centre Commercial.
I am sure the dealer/seller of your van will have some suggestions.
Have a great trip.

ACSI discounts finishing soon for the summer, however they are good sites. May be worth ringing ahead to reserve if a popular area, even if you only ring on the day you want to arrive it can be worth it if the campsite will take reservations.

In France in a motorhome it'll be easier for you to stock up on the out of town locations, Centre Commercial, as @Riverbankannie says.
There is usually a car supplies store ( for oil, WD40, that sort of stuff) which motor store it is will vary according to the part of France. Feu Vert is one and something like Norauto is another ( sorry, brain fog reigns !)

Babou is a huge 'tat from China' store, cheap and cheerful, you can buy any cleaning stuff, buckets, plastic containers, crockery, glasses etc..
They usually have outdoor stuff this time of year, garden chairs, tables etc..

Large supermarkets like Auchan and LeClerc also sell homeware, sometimes garden furniture.

Enjoy your adventure !

As per @Hollyberry and @Riverbankannie I would go for the out of town centre commercial and select the biggest baddest Auchan. Basically anything from a washing machine to cashew nuts or leisure batteries to 12 volt hair dryers

Thank you all so much for replies. Hollyberry love your "tat from China". We call them $2 shops.

Arrived in Dusseldorf in transit to pickup the Motorhome. Preparations a plenty for the start of Le Tour tomorrow sat.We are booked to leave for Paris tomorrow morn, pity as I would have gone for the experience.Wandered around this morn, photo ops for a couple of teams.Got a photo of a young german who's world champ. Team sponcer shouted me a coffee for coming so far to see them. Couldn't tell them it was not planned.
Its an absolute huge event, logistical nightmare 0ut 0f which will no doubt appear a bike race on time. Pity I have to leave.
Have seen only one camper van, belgium, but we are central city so maybe they are out a bit out of the chaos. My bike riding gear not up to the mark, will have to get flash stuff. Notice helmets are not compulsary as in NZ.Overall Dusseldorf is a nice an tourist friendly place. Most impressed with people helping us with directions and the free transport card for city.

I Lived in Dusseldorf for a number of years. Best of luck with your adventure, you will love touring around France, just stay off of the motorway truck stops and find little quiet aires in small villages and towns.

Fuel is always cheaper in large supermarkets which are everywhere and many of them have coin operated washing machines and drying stations 24/7 for your clothes

Ok so now its the realdeal.Train to Paris then on to Sens to pick up the van.Very happy with our Burstner so off to Auchen and Decathlon, to get essentials. Van came with nothing. That done, first night in Municiple Campsite in Sens..Met Ray from Norfolk who was more than helpful. Next day back to the shops, and a motorhome shop for more stuff, That night on the Aire in Auxere.Weather very hot, blue sky wonderfull.Tried to walk around Auxere but just too hot,so bought a couple of bikes and headed to campsite at Vincelles. Loverly site took ACSI and had a pool.Cycled the path on the Yonne/Niverney canal, south day 1 and north day 2. Friday headed in to the hills and back roads of real france to next site at Merry sur Yonne. If anyone can tell me how I change the Ducato satnav [Pioneer] so the writing is in English I will buy you a Beer reguardless of how many points the Allblacks beat the Lions by.We have changed the spoken voice from french to english, but cant see where to change the written options.

Hope you have a fabulous time. We left home on our 5 week adventure following Allan's retirement nearly 4 weeks ago now and are having a ball. Don't want it to end.
