Leaking tap - help needed

Pop out the little green thing between the two pipes, the pipes will then pull out. The tap can then be undone. Try turning the shower on but cover up the tap. I had a similar leak but water was getting down inside the body of the tap from the tap lever.

I had a leak on my tap and took it off to replace, easier than trying to fix it. Whilst I waited for the replacement I simply connected the two pipes together.

Hmm...expensive last resort. I wonder if we can just replace the internals? No idea what brand of tap we have though.

one of the issues with taps that have microswitches fitted is sourcing cheap replacements ....

one way round it is to fit a non microswitch tap and fit a small switch (adjacent to the sink) to turn the pump on, that you just flick it on and then off again when not in use.

or you could always 'future proof' the van and change the pump, however, that doesnt solve your leak!

£4.76 at Screwfix... I’m guessing it’s a standard fit?

When I searched Riech 412 it comes up with 25mm not 35mm. 🤔

I must admit when I've had tap problems, the leak has normally been caused by water freezing in the tap and cracks it. 🤔 Bob.

Hopefully your tap hasn't cracked, but brace your self. 😁
I have had a tap at home leaking from the washer on the spout, that took a while to find because the spout has to empty before it stops, just kept putting kitchen roll round it and it stopped after a while. 😁 Bob.

Mine leaked after citric acid cleaning, and just needed the cartridge to be tightened down.

I’ve had 2 of those from Screwfix and both leaked through the body of the cartridge.

Did you just tighten the 3 screws to do this? I have nipped them up quite well.

Mine although also a Reich tap, has a different setup. Mine just has a large thinwall nut that compresses the cartridge down. That was enough for it to seal.

Hi, we’ve just noticed a leak coming from the tap in our bathroom, shown by the green arrow. It’s dribbling down from inside the body of the tap but I’m struggling to get the tap out.

Am I able to undo the jubilee clips that the blue arrow points to so that I can remove the whole tap unit?
Will the water need turned off if I do this? If I don’t turn the water off will it just come pouring out if I undo the jubilee clips?
Is there any point in taking it out if I don’t have a small enough Torx key to release the internals from the tap body? This Torx key is smaller than T10 in size.

Thanks in advance!
I had a leak similar to this and it was due to the pipe not being pushed firmly in to the bottom of the tap, when I pushed the pipe upwards I felt it click and no more issue with it. Having said this your leak may be different to mine.

I’ve re-greased the 2 internal seals that are supposed to stop water coming out anywhere but the tap spout but it’s still leaking.

Not much more I can do. Any ideas how we block the water from that bathroom tap so we can still have water elsewhere in the van? The water pressure when the pump fuse is back in is enough to make it leak .
If you cannot get a proper sized O ring, take the originals off
and wrap two or three turns of plumbers PTFE tape over the O ring groove of the tap body and re-fit the original O rings, this will put a little more pressure on the outside of the O ring, against the tap cylinder wall,
and is a good (semi permanent fix) for worn O rings
Hope this helps you

You have obviously unscrewed the black “washer” which locks the tap to the under surface. If the tap will not budge then you will have to look at the upper surface, for instance is there a flange hiding screws.

Sorry to be the bearer of what might be bad news. Had a similar problem with a domestic tap. Got some new o rings which were supposed to be for the tap but the leak was worse. Tried various others that looked a good fit but none stopped the leak. Vaseline is a good lubricant for o rings in taps but obviously hot water will just melt it eventually.
As a temporary measure how about a domestic tap and put a switch on the wires if u cant find a micro switched replacement.
Last comment implies that it is a microswitch tap which are caravan/motorhome specific. If yours is however a pressurised system then a domestic tap will do just fine provided you can attach the tap and the pipes into the hole.

Managed to get it all disassembled with help from various forum members.
Will try the PRFE tape tip next and let you know how it goes.

Looking at the seals, could it be the bottom seal is the wrong way around so the water can push past, because it’s not an ‘o’ ring.
I had trouble with my tap leaking from the swivel and silicon grease sorted that.

Brilliant help given by Funsters! Excellent pics as well. Are you sure you have found the leak? All the Dethleffs taps I have dissembled in the past had tiny hairline cracks that only re-opened when there was water pressure again.
The enemy, in my case, was frost, (even completely drained), droplets burst the plastic taps.
Good luck, and let us know how you get this solved. Richard

No updates as the surf has been too good. Tap is assembled and sitting in a tub under the sink to catch any more leakage, except it appears to have stopped...

I’ll let you all know the score tomorrow, if you can contain yourselves!
