Hi,

I have a worsening leak on my sprinter motorhome. The water finds its way to the light console between the driver and passenger. This only occurs when the vehicle is sloping forwards.

Whereas I'd like to think it would be possible to find and repair myself, in reality it will probably need professional expertise.

Can anyone recommend companies to carry out an inspection/test. I'm based on the south coast near Brighton.

Many thanks

take a look yourself firstly before taking it anywhere and see if there are any obvious signs of where water can pass through. It may not actually be in the area where you think it is, so do a few tests. Sometimes water will travel from the leak to where it can be seen, following the course of least resistance

It might be easily fixed with some mastic/sealant ....?

Thanks for this. I have done this already and there's nothing obvious. There's lots of anecdotal information on forums specific to my particular motorhome but no one area emerges as the culprit and leak detection often takes a significant amount of time which I don't have availabile. Hence my request for professional recommendations.

Have you checked the sealing around the top of the windscreen. Water can, if not properly sealed, get in there to the headlining on a FIAT Ducato. I know it's a different base vehicle but maybe worth a look?

My old Sprinter did exactly that.

It was water coming in from the antenna where seal had started to perish.

Easy enough to fix but meant taking the headliner out to get to the nut that holds it in place, removing it, cleaning the area and then popping some SikaFlex under it and putting it back on.

You can sometimes get some condensation on the cab ceiling but it usually drips down the bulkhead and onto your fuses on Sprinters.

Mine was definitely a leak and it was filling up the light cluster and when you started to drive you'd get small splashes as you cornered and it would pour out either into the middle seat area or onto you depending if you were going left or right!

Pictures of the vehicle and the area where the leak is showing would help immensely.

Is it a panel van conversion, a coachbuilt ?. Makes all the difference. Also helps to know what's above the area the leak is discovered. Water tends to travel a lot inside some motorhomes depending how they're constructed

Can you make it leak by replicating the rain with a hose in specific-suspicious locations?
Also, as mentioned, don't rule out condensation under the liner.
We had condensation on crafter, but, dropped the liner and insulated propely with dodo thermo liner on the metal skin, then glues synthetic wool on top of that, then re fitted the liner. We made a cupboard for our bedding above the cab now as its dry.
