Just found this

Free (beta) app to turn your laptop running windows 7 into a local wifi hotspot

Broken Link Removed

Might be of use to someone ?

Good Post that, A very convenient feature which I use more and more on my mobile phone as it seems to deliver faster speeds than the old dongle, both of which are on the same network
Thanks again

Thank you for this post, looks like it could be really useful, but now my non technical head comes on...can any one explain in simpler language how it would work so I can maybe benefit from it.

It is ?

Only if you are paying for WiFi then you can log on with one machine and let another machine share the same paid for link.

Otherwise both ( or all ) computers would log on to the free WiFi directly.

It's similar to the MiFi gadgets but using WiFi instead of expensive dial up broadband.

Is it secure though?

Surely it leaves your machine open to nearby hackers?

no more than it is on your home network wifi ...

Connectify also encrypts the traffic to and from the software "hot spot" using WPA2-Personal (AES) encryption.

can also be used with a dongle, so no need for a MiFi

shame windows haven't quite caught up with Apple yet.. this facility has been enjoyed by all Mac users since 2002. on OSX

How do I use it on my Mac

helps to fill the blackspots around our house...and to extend the wifi out into the garden now
