Hi all, what is the best location around lake garda for 4 weeks? Just want to setup and stay and be within walking distance to a town for bars and restaurants. Thanks all

Spoilt for choice in the South here with hundreds of sites to choose from, any one of which would suit your purpose. Add a bike into the mix and there are a lot more (y)

We arrived at Camping Bella Italia in Peschiera del Garda for a short stay whilst touring but proximity to the town, overall facilities, on the lake edge, cycling galore and busses to further afield like Verona and around the lake meant we stayed for 5.5 weeks. Big site with lots of family holiday facilities but if you want to just camp with no intrusions then this was was achievable too. Absolutely loved it. No dogs though

Depends when you go, you might have very little choice. We went early September last year and the eastern side was very busy with many sites full or just a few pitches. Have you thought about another lake. We prefer Iseo and last year stayed at Camping Del Sole Village, an acsi site right on the lake with two great swimming pools and a 20 mins walk into town where you can take a beautiful lakeside train ride around the lake and to other resorts. There are loads of ferry points along the lake where you can take trips to the large island in the middle. Iseo is generally quieter than Garda.

What route did you use to get there?
scousebird I used the route below. Used all main roads, not sure what the road numbers are now without looking them up.

It's an easy route of about 750 miles from Calais, we did 3 stops 1st just the other side after crossing 2nd Metz and 3rd Lucerne.

Calais-Metz-Mulhouse-Basal-Lucerne-Gottard tunnel-Monza-Lake Garda

Iseo area is not so commercialised as Lake Garda. Certainly quieter.

we stayed at Camping Serenella last year, about midway between Bardolino and Garda, But stop out the front, lakeside walk either way. Beach bars en route.
also stayed at Isio which we loved
