Hi can anybody recommend a nice campsite in the Lake District please
Would be nice if by a lake and very close to villages/pubs and restaurants with only a very short walk as not into bikes or walking miles

Ambleside is on Lake Windemere and Pooley Bridge is on Ullswater two totally different places but both great to visit.

C&CC site in Keswick.

Another vote for this fantastic site on the shores of Derwentwater and the town of Keswick a 10 minute walk away. Bus services to Buttermere, Grasmere, Ambleside & Windermere

Check if planning on using the C&CC site in Keswick on the shore of Derwentwater as it is frequently subject to flooding I’m afraid.

Waterside Farm on Ullswater- lakeside walk into Pooley Bridge

Coniston Hall site is well run. You can walk to Coniston for pubs, shops, museum from site

Yeh that's what i meant We were there twice last year. I pay little attention to details like where and what place names.Spose that's bad when trying to recommend place eh.

This is a great spot. 10 mins walk to lake. 10 mins walk to town.

Eskdale NT site is our favourite at the bottom of Hardnott Pass . Three pubs within easy walking distance . Great scenery and lots of great walks straight from camp. O and big pitches
