Hi. Newbie here & currently finalising plans for a conversion. Can't decide whether to have a round or square kitchen sink!! Quite fancy a square one with a chopping board cut to fit in the contours! Any advice please. Thank you.
PS My parents had an old transit conversion in the 1970/80s which I grew up with, I've always wanted one and this is MY first ever van & I am SO SO excited!!!

Thanks Wissel. I wish I had the skill, time, space, tools & patience to self-convert but I don't!! So I'm going to Rhales Conversions near Peterborough. Searched for years on what I wanted, just small details now!

Hi

I can understand your excitment.

Questions. Do you want a basket in the sink? Is there a basket available in that size and shape? Same with a bowl. If you do and there is get two so you have a replacement. Same with the "chopping board" get two so that you have that replacement available. This hopefully covers damage wear or just to look really good when you come to sell.

Regards.

Personal pref. I prefer round with a convex base so that even if the van isn't completely level you don't end up chasing the washing up dregs down the plug 'ole or with a permanent puddle in the sink. You do lose a bit of volume compared with the same footprint of a square bowl.
I had a great one on my boat that drained even when sailing heeled over 20 degrees.

Just be careful when driving to remove the chopping board. In an accident God forbid it could take your head off if not secure.

We don't have space for the drainer Riverbanannie. It's a 5.5m van with 2 sideways sofas at the back so kitchen worktop very limited. We'll but a round plastic bowl & use the basket as a drainer!

A round bowl will leave more material in the worktop so will be stronger.
Also round holes gives less stress on the worktop.

I’m thinking the film Fatal Attraction :)
