Were on a campsite in Assilah in Morocco and our neighbour is having an intermittent problem with the key for her Mercedes sprinter. Sometime the key will unlock it and she is unable to start the van. She has had a replacement key one year ago and still has the original key both of which work intermittently. She has replaced the batteries twice. Any suggestions before she visits the main Mercedes dealer in Tangiers tomorrow. Thanks

Our Mercedes cars have battery fobs, and they are very fickle to cheap batteries.
When replaced with quality batteries, no issues.

That's a good point. My fobs will not work at all with anything other than Energiser Lithium batteries. It took more than a bit of head scratching before I discovered that.

Yup, we had lithium fitted as replacements in both fobs, after trying " cheap" similar sized batteries.
Not cheap, but give peace of mind.

Many thanks for suggestions, but new batteries didn't work so it's off to the main dealer in Tangiers.
