Anybody have an idea where to stay in keswick we need to be in whinlatter forest for 0700 Saturday 14th march. Ccc site shut flooded Braithwaite sites shut for refurbishment. Any ideas ?

have you googled where you will be parking in the morning, I would be parking overnight in the car park

You will not be late and guarantee a space (y)

presuming there is no ban on overnight parking

Wheatsheaf Inn at Lorton is just around the corner. They have a little site there.(not sure if it is affiliated) May not be open this early in the year but may consider a pubstop if closed.

Might also be worth ringing the Pheasant Inn at the top end of Bassenthwaite Lake not sure if they do pubstops but worth a call as they are just the other side of the hill from Whinlatter.

Also have a look at Swinside Inn on searchforsites... again just round the corner from where you need to be.

Pubstop with ehu

We've got a couple of nights booked at Castlerigg Hall in July. Is it much of a walk into Keswick?
My wife's feet ain't the best so was considering a taxi? (y)

Yes taxi ... I usually go down through woods into Keswick - uphill on way back but for anyone who had bad feet taxi is the best option.

Hi probably a mile or so on rough paths into Keswick nice walk but if you are not so good on your feet taxi is the way for you. Seems a long time ago we were there just before lock down .

Thanks Simon. Just looking forward (like everyone else) to getting away. My wife was telling me that she read somewhere that the local council have requested that everyone visiting the town MUST wear a face mask, indoors or out. I wear one ten hours a day at work so not going to be a happy bunny doing it while on holiday! :Eeek:
