hi to all, just woundering if anyone else has come across this before, took my daily for mot but before that it needed some weilding so i thought this is a good time to change the inside lay out abit ,so i stript it back to the laging clean it out got the welding done ,which was a lot more than i thought but then shell i take it for mot now or should i put it all back in now. then i thought hang on if it fails on say needing more welding i would to have to take it all out again. so i to it for mot, did't take the v5 dont need it they just look it up and prit it out on the new mot, ok it fail on two things hand brake and a small hole in the silancer, not any more welding that goodness but then i went to pay he said it was presented as a van ;ie no bed or cupboads also its come up as n1 vehicle category, i said no on the v5 its a campervan or motorhome i could'dnt remeber which at the time but i new it was one or the other ,but no it's not any of those he said for the mot it's a van class 7. 3500kg weight. so now i've got 10 wokeing days to fit all the intera back in and book in for repairs befor it can be remoted it's a joke.......

What does it matter?
The MOT station has to test every vehicle as presented, not what you say it might be, just get the work done and get it retested before putting the interior in. Your not changing the class, it’s just the mot station record as a 7. It doesn’t go to DVLA

Not right in my opinion. We converted our van, notified dvla, they have a record that’s been changed. Despite the fact that’s van with windows on V5, the MOT it’s class 4 as a car. The mot guy looked it up on dvla and said you notified and it’s class 4.
I did posted this a while back as I was surprised being van with windows, but converted as a Motorhome. It’s a 3.5T crafter. It has to be tested on a class7 bay due to its size, but mot on my van is class4.

Yes but it's not him saying it's a van if it's coming up as van on his computer that is what it's classed as.

All motor homes are class 4,if a vehicle over 3000kg & up to 3500kg is presented for test with no living capability ie no bed or interior etc it has goods carrying capacity and is therefore a class 7 & strictly speaking should be tested as such. It makes no difference to the op, he doesn’t need to rush to get it fitted out before retest .

I just wonder if there is a discrepancy here between the DVLA records where a vehicle has been reclassified as a Motor Caravan and the DVSA records which is who the MOT stations are controlled by?

The 2 don’t talk to each other. From an mot point of view it doesn’t really matter what the v5 says, the test you do is determined by the vehicle you are presented with.
