Hi all,
on a Peugeot boxer is jump start both of these pins or one pin and battery.... Although can't see the battery obvious in engine bay

Cheers Brian

Pic? Usually, there is a positive pin in the engine bay and you connect negative to any engine earth point.

there is a pin (more of a plate) under the plastic cover down below offside wheel arch in the engine bay for the positive. The other is a pin up near the centre under the window for the neg

If the battery is very depleted, connect up, start the car engine and let it run for a while - 5-10 mins before trying the Boxer.

If you have to jump start, turn dead battery vehicle lights all on, let doner engine run for at least 5-10 minutes and let it wake up your dead battery. The lights takes some power out of the circuit as a modern ECU don't like voltage spikes when you do try and start.

In the past I have connected a dead starter battery to the (charged) hab battery. Left it for 20 minutes before disconnecting everything again. That transferred enough charge to get the engine started.

Positive on passenger side on my 2022/3 Duke thought they'd all be the same engine layout's !

Brian, get yourself a cheap optimizer charger off Ebay, about £35 mine is a Ring. You can leave them on all day to boost the battery back up, else you will be changing batteries regularly.
My solar panel charges leisure battery, so no worries there.

Sometimes it works better to connect the +ve direct to the battery (which is under the floor in the passenger footwell)

Bit of a faff getting panel out all the time though, safer clip on proper connection point's under bonnet, as long as like Jev said leave them both connected for 15-20 mins to transfer enough charge to crack the van up 🤷‍♂️ Turn ignition on 2 or 3 times to pre-heat glow plugs will help it ignite easier . . .

Why would running out of Adblue run the battery
It might have been assumed it was an issue with the battery not holding charge.
My boxer ran out of ad blue with no warning.
Resulting in not being able to start the vehicle even though the lights were on.

As said adblue would not cause a starter battery to go flat, unless you were cranking it over, but why would you do that 🤷‍♂
Sound's like Brian (OP) had left it standing . . .

Can I add my vote for a NOCO starter pack. I've used mine many times last winter and this for neighbours and friends - no need to get your own vehicle near for jump leads, just attach the NOCO. This is a seriously well-made piece of kit. Not cheap but worth every penny and peace of mind while in remote locations with the van.

I found a Workshop Plus jump kit in a P/x, put it in moho garage as you never know. Isle of Wight took motorbike in garage, used it from Southlands park to commute everywhere, but battery decided to die on us, thank god I took the pack with us, as it started bike several times .
Ace bit of kit think it originally cost £70 wouldn't leave without it now 👌
