With this cold weather approaching and our MH in storage just thinking a head that if I ever need to jump start it are they things I should be aware of such as disconnecting the leisure battery before attempting jumpstart. I believe newer models have a positive charge connector in the engine bay, I presume the older ones not. Ours is 2002.

I’ve also read about ECU damage when jump starting. I’ve jump started many a car but not a MH. I have a BM2 on the battery and it did show low but turned over and started today without issue. Charge shows at around 14.4v with engine running.

Will be looking to get a battery master at some point but in the mean time after some advice.

Safest. Way is to connect the leads from the donor vehicle positive first negative last, let the donor vehicles engine run at a fast tick over for 10-15 mins before trying to start your motorhome. That way there is not such a load through the number leads and a more stable voltage when using the starter motor.

Thanks for that. I understand that there could be potential damage to the leisure battery if it remains connected and the split charge relay kicks in during starting. Would it be better to isolate the leisure battery before attempting a jump start.

The split charge eBay will only kick in when the alternator starts charging, but to avoid the leisure battery risk just remove the fuse from it it should be located close to the leisure battery, then after say tenmins. Put the fuse back

If you can't find leisure fuse then take off earth lead from leisure battery. Putting headlights on dead vehicle reduces the spike of power, but this seems to be best helped by not rushing to try and start the dead vehicle. p.s. letting your lead acid battery get so low it wont start will kill it.
