my 2014 Hymer B698 with 23,550 miles with Ducati 3lt comfortmatic has a terrible judder in reverse especially on a slight incline wet grass impossible! Is there anybody
else with the same problem or have cure
Would be very grateful for some advice thanks

Our 2016 3.0 also does the same at slow speed and against an incline, many a time I power through it and it stops but be carful when slow speed is required.

No cure that I know of. My 2007 Burstner 3.0L manual has had it from birth, I've just learned to live with it and to use a bit of finesse.

Factory recall a few years ago under warranty.

New clutch and gearbox mount from memory.
Obviously yours was never done.

Try a Fiat profession garage and see if they can help with cost contribution from Fiat..... Don't hold your breath.

Fiat's original response..... Nothing wrong with our vans.
Second response...... Rev the nuts off it.
Third response... Oh shit, we better do something.

You need to search here on "juddergate" to get a bigger picture of this. Though I think that was the non-automatic ones that went as far as shattering their gearboxes.

Only ever done for the 2.3's included a lower ratio reverse gear as well.

Fiat said there wasn't a problem with the 3 Lt and no fix offered. The 3 Lt has so much torque that if you are not careful it is easy to over stress the clutch & dual mass flywheel which then causes the judder.

There was a fix for the 2.3 engine but NOT for the 3 Litre, we took out new Autotrail Aprapaho back to the dealer after fiat had told us yes it definitely has the problem but we can't do anything about it.
After some discussion the dealer agreed that if we had any mechanical problems with the clutch or gearbox over the next 3 yrs. he would pay the full costs, we had that in writing and went away happy.
We sold the motorhome when the 3 yrs expired.

2.2 & 2.3 yes -3L no. FiART were in denial of that model, said it had no judder.

Another Common problem with Ducattos

The original problem was caused, I believe, by having a reverse gear that was too high. This took a long time to truly rectify as the gearbox casing was not able to accommodate cogs large enough to rectify the problem.... or so I was told when they worked on my van.

I had a new clutch, gearbox rebuild and engine mounts on a 2008 2.3 Ducato. Organised through Fiat Italy, dealer and Swift didn't want to know.

That was unlucky having it done twice

The previous M-H (2007) was a Ducato 2.3L 6 Speed manual. At 32K miles the 6th gear gave up. The Dealer had the job done under warranty without argument. 11 Months later the gearbox got exceedingly noisy, and fortunately the Warranty on the repair was honoured and this time a full rebuild was done. At the same time a New Clutch pack was fitted. The 6th gear has been problematical on these engines from Inception, FIAT know about it but along with the known "Judder" (alleged to be the use of the forward gear set as part of the reverse gear set and of a too high ratio ) are studiously ignoring it!.
