You actually pay far more for commercial TV than for the TV licence. In the 1970's it was about £179 per person.

Presumably they are referring to the cost of adverts being added to your general shopping bill?? No sure how they would work that out though.

I'm struggling as well. The other choices, whilst entirely accurate and warranted, might upset Jim and a few others.

Ah, just got it. I didnt read the title properly (sorry to anyone whose bothered ) it does actually say he was on Channel 5. I read Jeremy Vine immediately thought BBC and the red mist came down - probably same load of inflammatory shite from Vine just slightly less annoying that we re not compelled to pay to watch it, although hang on..... we cant watch any of the other channels unless we pay the BBC, so does that mean we pay for all the other Channels twice?

It was I think worked out by the Observation Society in response to a query. Took the total cost of commercial, including profits, and divided by the UK population.
