Any opinions/advice on the use of the above would be appreciated, particularly the life expectancy of it?

Thanks for the question Cush. I have a large solar panel on the roof but when off site I need more 12v power for general use. My first thought was to fit another leisure battery but the additional weight and cost (because it would mean replacing the existing old Gel battery and adding another one) was out of the question. I had considered an additional solar panel, which would need to be placed outside ie no room on the roofl, but didn't find that idea to my liking hence the thought of a power bank. Do you have any experience of a PB? if so I would welcome your thoughts and advice on them please?

TBH, they are marmite. I have one. An anker 767 2048 wh LiFePO4 with a 2300w inverter. It’s a great piece of kit but would I buy one? In my circumstances, probs not as it would be cheaper to buy the battery and inverter and b2b as separates. However professional fitting would up the £££ considerably. I inherited mine, have it connected to the PSU via a rotary selector switch so I can isolate it, and charge it, in the event of being somewhere with included ehu but that’s rare at the minute. Prefer to wild it. It is semi permanently installed. I just unplug the 230v plug and lift it out to use it in the shed.

I have 400 watts of portable solar that I can plug in if neccessary.

I can use it to run the 240v sockets (airfryer, toaster and wife’s hair things at different times). I trickle charge it from the leisure batter (230ah) that is replenished by 390watt solar. I also have a Victron IP65 charger but it’s used mainly for 240 v sockets.

Hope that helps
Cush

May is ask why out of the question. A bigger battery will solve your problem. For 1k you could get a decent replacement. They are hand to use away from the van though.

We use the Ecoflow delta2, which is a 2.4kw inverter (peak) 1800w constant with 1kwh of storage roughly.

Works for everything, even running the airfryer, and takes 400W of solar input. We looked at Jackery, but found the price of ecoflows and the fact they have wifi connection so we can monitor charging when away from the van.. useful. One thing we found with a rival brand like Jackery (the Allpowers unit) is it took 4 hours to charge where the ecoflow takes 1 hour, which is quite useful when you want to charge at a friends van (with hookup) if the solar is not producing.

We use ours mainly to run the TV (240v), airfryer and toaster (when off grid) and other luxury loads with the leisure batery being the main source for heating, light and water only.

Worth waiting for the Black Friday deals next week on any battery I'd say, as likely they will all drop by 2-300 quid (we got our Delta2 for around £500 in a black Friday type deal).
