Hii,The motorhome Model that I have settled on buying will be pre 93 and they seem to have either a Iveco 2.5 engine or a 410d merc,my question is why are the iveco models always significantly cheaper than the mercs,is the quality realy that much? Thanks martin.

Thanks Paul,I have heard 410 called the million mile engine but what I havnt heard is anything said of the iveco, even if there capable of half that I would consider it after all Im 63 this year and I reckon that would do me:LOL:

They are both extremely reliable if they have been looked after.

This, but in bold "if they have been looked after".
At that age your probably rolling dice on either. How much is a reconed Iveco engine fitted and how much less is the Iveco than the merc?

Yes thats a good point to make about reconditioning and that would be a worse case scenario,Every thing is fixable on the older engines.Since no one is saying anything bad about the iveco I will include it in my search.

410d is the 5 cylinder, good engine, I had a few of them new when I had my courier business, but I reckon youbwill find the Iveco engine a bit livlier especially if you can find a 2.8, have a good look at the chassis though, the Ivecos rusted for fun back then, the Mercs weren't as bad until the 1st gen Sprinter came along.

Thanks ,its A class , l will be buying and I assume if its the iveco it be ladder chassis type so not much to rust. The 2.8 came after 93 I think and I have set my mind on vehicles before this year.
