As some of you know we are hopefully getting our new motorhome in early December so we have removed all of our personal items from our current one and being the honest and reputable persons we took our motorhome to our man in oldham to see if he could sort out the warning lights on the dash which are, brake warning on the handbrake and lane assist camera not receiving information.

Unfortunately they couldn't do anything so it went to Northern commercials in manchester.
£3500 quote to sort out the issues.
Yes £3500 ouch.
We can't trade ours in with its current condition so we have given the go ahead and will be on beans on toast without the beans for the foreseeable future 🤣🤣.
Don't you just love modern vehicles.

That sounds like an awful lot of money for something that might be fixed with half an hour on a PC connected up to the ECU ?
Did they give a breakdown of how they arrived at that figure or diagnosed the problem and parts needed.

Sorry chaps, but someone is taking the urine.
I too would be asking for a breakdown of their quotation.

Have you tried others near you both? To maintain the warranty, I believe it doesn't have to be a main agent doing the work, but it does have to be OE parts used by whoever does the work.

Good luck finding someone reasonably priced as well as reliable. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

That's ridiculous, how can they possibly know what's wrong before the look at it. The lane assist camera I've no idea but the handbrake warning light could be as simple as a broken wire etc.

I could understand once they'd done the job maybe having found issues unexpected etc but to quote that before doing it. Something smells fishy

As others have said that’s ridiculous. But it’s what you expect in this country.
Some people charge certain people more when they can get away with it just think of some of the costs charged to the government.
I know of people that have their normal price and then their price for government contracts obviously a lot higher cause they can.

My prices are the same for everyone but I am unusual in that.

I knew an Audi mechanic years ago. Said the garage charges different rates for him depending on what car he was working on ……

We never turned a job down we just overquoted if we didn't want the job
They may have been as shocked that the quote was accepted
