iTune Update Cr*p Help Please

I should have known better! tried to update to 10.0.1.22 after 10 hours of messing about i'm stuck. Initially downloaded new version -it removed the existing version, then got message at the end "There is a problem with this windows installer package etc. etc. ", looking on Apple website it shows to completely remove remaining remnants then reinstall-no good . Tried installing iTunes 9 from another source -no good , tried system restore - no good . Any help would be brilliant - be aware if you read this you may have a similar problem if you update Aloh:oh:

I have iTunes 10.0.1.22 running on both Mac and Pc no problems .. so

I would start by running an uninstaller such as Revo .. download the freeware version. http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

If you have already uninstalled, then run CCleaner to remove any other leftover files and repair any registry errors.

then do a fresh download from the Apple site

I tried all that you suggested but still ended up at the same point "There is a problem with.......", decided to bite the bullet moved all of iTunes library to a fresh Winamp download and Mr Jobs will be out of pocket i will waste my music downloading elswhere with Amazon. Luckily or otherwise i have a Sony mp3/4 player so transferring is not a problem. Usually i will tinker on but now totally p..........ed off with this Apple saga Al.oh:

I've heard of somebody else having similar problems so was very wary and took a complete backup of my iTunes library before running the 10.0.1.22 update. Happily for me it went fine.

As it is a problem others have experienced maybe a Google search will be in order. Somebody may have a solution on a more specialist forum.
