I thought that the Irish family we met in Ireland were nuts for sitting on the beach in their deck chairs having a picnic in the rain but that has been matched, if not beaten, by what we're just witnessed at Irvine in Scotland! 😄

We were in our MH having tea when a load of people in running gear started gathering, shortly afterwards they set off on a run, nothing wrong with that you may say, trouble is it was blowing a hoodie and absolutely chucking it down! They looked like drown rats! 😆

Normal behaviour for proper runners and cyclists and walkers for that matter. Not strange at all. My SIL cycles 8 miles into London every day in all weathers. Nothing stops him.

And cycle tourists, who ride for weeks on end using their own power with nothing but a tent to sleep in and whatever the weather brings each day. In a different league to the softies in tin and plastic boxes who look out of the rain swept windows and then put the heating on 😛.
I know - I do both......

Were they dressed in red shirts?

If so, probably Irvine Running Club hosting a memorial 10k race that takes place in mid August.

It normally starts at the ice cream shop so we know how you saw them!:whistle2:

We were in Eire, in October, and I walked to the shops wearing just a T, shorts and sandals. A local lady suggested that I was mad but I told her it would dry much quicker than a full set of 'winter' clothes. (As the saying goes 'Where there's lochs, lakes and green green grass - there's a reason and, without wind, it falls vertically' or 'There's no such thing as bad weather - just the wrong clothes').

If your going for a run you are going for a run, not much point in waiting for dry weather, that rain cools you down too 😉

On Thursday past at Cullen beach ( north Aberdeenshire ) I counted 15 folk swimming in the sea and some then using the beach sauna. It was cloudy, cold and windy 🙄.
Nae wonder it'd called Cullen Stink then!:clap2::whistle2::giggler:

It’s nothing wrong with the Irish and Scots it’s just we are made of stronger stuff than the English. Reminds me of the the weather forecast, “ tomorrow shall see large snow fall with sub zero temperatures, people in the England are being warned that the M25 is likely to be closed, chaos shall occur at Heathrow with many flight cancellations, schools shall be closed and people told to stay at home, for those in Scotland, you may want to put on your warmer jacket” 🤪😂😂😂
