I have had my new to me motorhome for 15 months now, had about 100 nights in her and no problems what so ever until now.
Pulled onto a site last Friday and found that my fridge wouldn't work on gas.
I spent hours trying to get it to work, with no luck, and couldn't get anybody to look at it for at least 3 weeks.
I checked with the site to see if I could go on hook up but no EHU available for 2 weeks.
So after a bit of head scratching I got an electric cool box on Tuesday to see me through until I can get the fridge repaired.
The cool box worked fine Tuesday and yesterday and then this afternoon my inverter packed in.
The cool box is only 40 watts so well under the 300 watts continuous the inverter is rated for.
I found that the fuse on the back of the inverter had blown.
I replaced the fuse but although the inverter was off with nothing plugged into it the new fuse blew as soon as I pushed it in.
Another fuse fitted and exactly the same thing so I assume the inverter has failed internally.
I've just been and bought another inverter which is working fine as I type.
I hope the saying things come in 3's doesn't hold true.
Fingers crossed I'll have cold beers tonight.

Is there a gas shut off tap/valve between the fridge and the inlet?
I have a bank if three valves located beneath the sink that isolate the gas to the oven/job, the fridge and external Bbq gas outlet.
If that’s closed your fridge will not work on gas.

How old are the fridge and inverter? Could be near the end of their natural life.

Valve is open and there is gas to the fridge as the pilot light ignites fine.

Inverter was 14 months old, only just out of warranty.
It's never supplied more than 40 watts so had an easy life.
Fridge is old but will be fixed by either a new jet, new thermocouple or worst ways a new gas valve.
It's just that nobody can look at it for several weeks as they're all busy, one firm told me September at the earliest, hence the electric cool box to tide me over.
If the site had had a spare EHU I could've plugged in which would have saved a lot of hassle.

It's worth contacting the supplier of the invertor and telling them it's only just out of warranty & still should not have failed. I tried this with a domestic appliance and was given a fair discount on a replacement.

The inverter was only a cheapy from Toolstation.
Until this week all it had run was a TV drawing 40 watts.
This week it had to supply 80 watts, 40 watts tv and 40 watts electric coolbox.
I replaced it with an identical one from Toolstation as it could go straight on the existing wiring and mountings so an easy fix.
When I get home I'll see about fitting a better inverter as 80 watts should be fine on a 300/600 inverter.

Not sure how old your van is but some fridges in older vans can be temperamental if your van is not level.

Sound like a blocked jet, so hopefully an easy fix

No idea about the fridge, but surely the cool box runs off 12v?

Yes the cool box runs off either 12v or 240v.
On 12v it draws 4 amps, from the inverter it draws 4.4 amps so not much difference.
Swift in their wisdom have fitted 12v outlets that are only rated at 4 amps max.
After a few minutes running on 12v the cigarette plug was pretty hot, hotter than I was comfortable with.
Hence running it from the inverter.
