Today I met a fellow biker that I hadn’t seen for some time. His left arm was in a sling so I asked him what had happened.

He explained that he and a friend were on a pleasure ride out and saw traffic lights ahead changing to red. They both slowed and stopped.

However, a car behind them didn’t and ran into them both, at speed, swiping them off the road. He had suffered two broken ribs and his left shoulder was dislocated, hence the sling.

Worse still his friend died at the scene from bleeding from internal injuries.

They were both “bikers of mature years” with many years experience but, in those circumstances there is little you can do.

Police investigation is still ongoing pending charges.

Thats tragic and my heart goes out to them. I must admit whenever I pull up at junctions I’m constantly looking in my mirrors for the same reason.

Similar thing happened to our son in a mini luckily low speed and few injuries the car was a write off. Yes you can't allow for others.

Tragic.
Driving without due care and attention leading to death springs to mind ?
I think the driver is in for a deserved sobering experience.
