In Tintagle been here for 3 nights in the King Arthur’s car park which is one of 4 car parks in town that you can park overnight.
Lots of vans here all 3 nights got me thinking is this the most motorhome friendly place in the uk? It’s definitely doing the town and local shops and pubs good.
Nice place for a few nights not the first time we have been here and won’t be the last?

I think Lossiemouth have struck the balance just right!!

There’s also a stopover at Pentewan on the road to Mevagissey. It’s called ‘Phenonix Stores’ but still displays the sign ‘Mill Garage’ from a previous life. Next door to Pentewan Sands, walking distance to beach, cycle path (national route 3) and 2 pubs. Slightly sloping hard standing.

Unfortunately, a few miles down the road rom Tintagel at the Piggy Lane Carpark in Wadebridge, where motorhomes could park overnight for free (with loos), has now banned overnight parking.

This was following the pandemic when two motorhomes stayed there for the best part of a year, one occupied by the local nurse, whom as you can imagine was working 16 hours a day every day in the local clinic during the pandemic.

From the Gorran Haven sign it would seem possible to arrive at 1600 pay for 2 hours at £6.00 rate and stay till 0930 next morning, because that rate does not say it is not available to motorhomes.

I think that is for Cars, as Motorhome Overnight is Stated ???

Most of Gorran is situated on an incline, you’l need some good chocks. Willow is a large level car park. Both are about 5 mins walk to the beach/harbour and have public toilets nearby.

Overnight 3 pounds, motorhomes 15 pounds. Prejudice maybe?

Maybe that was intended, but they did not write the notice that way, as there is nothing to say the rates apply only to cars not that those rates, other than the MH one, do not apply to motorhomes. So if a motohomer pays the £6.00 for 2 hours and stays till 0930 what condition of the tariff has he broken?

Padstein has four places for motorhomes BUT (BIG BUT) parking between 10pm and 6am is not allowed but they will sell you a 24hrs ticket.

Never been but it does sound as if the town has made an effort, quite a few towns and villages in Scotland have been doing similar for a few years. Shame they still abuse the very simple and basic rules.
