Hi,

Our moho is around 15 years old now and the hab seats whilst still in decent condition are not very comfy after a while.

Without spending £2.4k+ replacing all of it properly, is there anything I can do to get a few more years out of them?

I was thinking of adding/(glueing?) something like this to the underneath of the hab seats, has anyone done this and had good results? If so how thick should the foam be? it's sold from 1.3-15cm thick? I was thinking about adding 3-5cm..

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks for all your help recently, much appreciated (y)

No idea where you are in the country but one of our local markets ( Poulton Le Fylde) has a foam man/woman who has numerous off cuts or can sculpt foam for redoing seating pads. Must be something like that in your neck of the woods?

I'm in the East Midlands, I've no idea about a foam person who could mould them, certainly something I'm going to look into.

Thanks

Yeah I called these guys up and they wanted £2.4k to do the hab seating, whilst I have no doubt they'd do a good job, I just don't have that amount of money spare to do that right now hence looking for a cheapish method to just improve the comfort of this existing seats until I get the money together to do it properly in a year or so.

Thanks

Any local upholsterer can replace the seat foam, it comes in various densities. Could even do it a bit at a time when funds allow.

My hab seat is a collection of foam cushions that make into a bed, well they would if you are a child. Not very comfy for sitting on nor for their duel purpose of being travel seats. Currently bought a scrap BMW Mini rag top rear seat and once the weather warms up will see if they can be fitted and if they work. Will get them covered if they do

I've ordered off fleabay store for precisely cut seat foam in varying depths and hardness for home sofas.

We have the very same problem as yourself.
I paid to have two seat cushions re stuffed by a local upholstery company and wish that Ihad not bothered. It has made little or no difference to the comfort and was expensive. Nearly three hundred quid and I reckon it only took him ten minutes to do the job. Find an extra cushion to sit on it will be much cheaper.

If I was going to have it all reupholstered, I would ask for zippable covers, albeit knowing that removable never seen to fit as well as non removable.
I also understand the desire not to spend a high percentage of the value of the motorhome on cushions ....

Have you considered trying to locate a late model write off? Even fire damaged might not have affected the cushion fillings ....?

For a prevous motorhome and a caravan prior to that, I made a set of loose/fitted covers. Would be an easy excercise to add a couple of inches to the height of the covers and allow for sheets of memory foam to slide in on top of the seat before putting the covers on, or just sew up some covers to fit over suitabley sized memory foam and sit on those like cushions

We use a similar idea for beds , a layer of memory foam which lives under the seat cushion and is put on top when making the beds up. Ensure anything you add does not raise the back cushion enough to foul curtains, blinds etc ours doesn't but it was more luck than management we haven't got an inch to spare. Ours helps with bed but doesn't make much difference on seating.

The upholstery rejuvenater doncaster did a great job on my caravan and was a quarter of the cost of better known upholsterers i think she has a website and is based in doncaster market
