Is tesco mobile any good in france and spain for data.

24 gig allowance on our " unlimited " contract, but it worked everywhere. I downloaded shed loads of iplayet stuff on the phone then used mirrorcast to the Fergussion TV. which worked a treat, and very little data usage.

Definitely in all the areas of France we have visited during the past 4 weeks. The signal was only momentarily week a couple of times but otherwise surprisingly good. Tesco Mobile uses Orange F in France and all data comes out of my UK 30 gig package allowance. No extras so far.

I put a Lebara SIM in my dual-SIM phone as a backup but haven't needed to use it for data but have used it for the included 'international' calls allowance to French phone numbers

I have a Tesco SIM card using the 02 network in UK. As my contract started before June 2022, I had unlimited data when roaming.

Travelled March - May through Eastern France, Belgium, Germany, Italy along the med coast and back up the West Coast of France back to Calais. Throughout the time we streamed daily and heavily and not once had a signal strength issue!

although new Tesco contract do not give the unlimited roaming now the signal strength should be the same.

Yes, but for how much longer no one knows.

We use Tesco for phones and Popit for our tablets.

I asked Tesco's and the rep said that roaming without an extra charge, (i.e., as included in your monthly data allowance) had been extended to the end of 2023 for existing contracts, but beyond that, they had not yet been told. However, I stress what Broken Link Removed says above. That is for existing customers only. New customers currently pay extra for roaming. Note that Tesco's roaming charge for countries outside the EU at an incredibly high cost of £5.00 for one (yes 1) megabyte (yes, that is megabyte not gigabyte!). I can't work out whether this means Norway and Switzerland as well.

It would be nice if a company (any company) cared enough about their customers to give them some sort of loyalty reward, but can't see it.

I don't understand this. Only Popit (a very small player) is offering new contracts where roaming is uncapped and included in your allowance. If one of the big boys did that, everyone would switch and they would clean up. This sounds like a cartel to me.

We have a Lebara sim but no reception in the North of Spain or Biarritz. Hope it gets better soon or it will be in the bin.

Is Tesco mobile 02 i believe any good in france and spain particularly for data.
my phone is on GiffGaff which operates through O2 with little to no problems in France but you will need a good data package, mines 10g but barely enough for 3 weeks.

Tesco use O2 and are good in France for signal and data and don't charge for roaming
Make sure Tesco have dropped their roaming charges

Hi DDJC

My understanding about the unlimited roaming for those who took a Tesco contract out before June 2022 was that it would now last until the renewal of your current contract. I was led to believe that if you just run your contract on past its completion date that the unlimited roaming facility would remain. That of course might be wishful thinking on my part - but at least I should get another spring/ early summer tour in the EU in 2024, if my understanding is correct.🤞😀

Might be worth checking on your phone by looking at the data usage history, where it might flag up your actual limit, if any.

Are you getting no bars at all showing on your phone when using the Lebara SIM?

In mid France I was able to use the Lebara SIM (I have a dual SIM phone) to make calls to a couple of French phone numbers but I've not been able to access data services at all, anywhere, despite the signal showing as strong. I eventually visited the Lebara support website and found a procedure to set up their SIM here:

Hey presto! Suddenly everything worked as it should. Heaven knows why that didn't happen automatically when I arrived in France. Might be worth a try?

My phone tells me Lebara is using F FSR in France so maybe their coverage isn't so good near the Spanish border?
