I am looking to purchase a 2022 carthago cline 5.0 Merc which is registered 4,200 kg is it possible to raise to 4500kg? (A new vehicle can be uprated for a fee of £350 which I am told is a paper exercise).
If it is please can you advise how this is done. Thanks

I uprated our 2019 Burstner from 4000 kg to 4500 kg just a paper exercise I used Svtec

Take a photo of your weight plate, the one with all the weights on it, and post it here, then we can see what is allowed, the weight plate is actually the VIN plate, Underneath the VIN number is the various weight restrictions for your motorhome.

I doubt you could get much weight forwards so the rear axle weight will always be the limit rather than the GVW so not sure there is much point in up-plating..

Colin, the Chair of the Carthago owners club told me at the show last year that Merc won't honour the warranty if the van is up plated. The situation may have changed or a misunderstanding had taken place but for sure it was the case at the time as he had wanted to up plate his new C-Line. Maybe worth a check before committing as I guess van will still have the warranty?

Isn't most new C-Line's Fiat engines?

If you can Dee Thorne at VanWeight Engineering will tell you how for free -

They only charge for helping with the application process and even then it’s under £200.
