despite our lengthy trawls of various sites we cannot seem to find a drive away awning to fit our very common tracker EKS? It has an omnistor 2.6 wind out fitted which has a height from ground level of 250. By the way though it is a 2.6 the actual ‘kador’?rail width is only 2.46. This rail also appears to have a bigger internal than the 4mm often quoted ? Nearer to 8mm I think metal edge to opposite edge. We are at our wits end looking ! Can any of you suggest a drive away that will fit or do we have to settle for a normal/caravan type awning? I don’t think the short length of our omnistor helps .....

I cannot speak from a position of knowledge except to say that I've heard countless motorhomers using a driveaway on one or two occasions and then selling it because it's a pain in the you know where. (Something to do with having to get the return to the awning spot on etc.)

Just a suggestion. Have a look at the Quest type (other makes available,) Pop up Shelter. Maybe not as sturdy as a driveaway but they've certainly taken over the rally field as somewhere to sit out, store, and act like the old fashioned Cabana.

Thanks for your reply Emmit. All we really want is a small porch type awning/shelter to put our shoes and wet coats in and then to access the Mo Ho. There are just the two of us so in autumn/ winter /wetter times a small attached shelter would be ideal. Our prob seems to be the smaller ones are not tall enough and the taller ones are too wide! Gone awning blind now looked at so many ! Not all seem to give the width or footprint but focus on height only. Clearly if we attach to the small omnistor wind out canopy it cannot be wider than its rail .... I think?

If you are new to motorhoming give it a go without an awning. :) We put a little door mat on the ground outside the door and have "indoor shoes" ready inside. Wet clothes we hang in the shower/loo. The dog gets a good towelling before being allowed in as well. We have a plastic mat on the floor on the inside for catching any drips.

you need a conversion kit think it is called a kador rail
Amazon product ASIN B073H66DDFWe do use our awning, but think if getting something again would get a quest popup however, not so good for sleeping in as we do when away with the grandchildren. If you are going down the awning route, look on ebay or gum tree so many people buy them use them only once or not at all and then sell

We use our air awning but generally don't bother attaching it to the wind out awning with a Kador strip so we can just park in roughly the same spot.

Hi Peter very nice of you and all others to reply . My fixing height is 250 and the two you posted links to are 170 to 220. Do they do them on a taller fixing?

If it's just for wet coats and shoes, why not try a pop up loo tent for around £35 from amazon? We have the same issue with our EKS and found it sits nicely under the awning facing the entrance step next to the water fill point, so it keeps that area sheltered too. It also packs away small enough to be kept in the rear storage behind the cantilever hatch when not required.

This is what we bought.

In fairness we have thought about a non connected toilet tent or pop up but want a covered way from outside to in. So when it rains we can keep dry whilst taking off shoes coat etc and then entering Mo Ho. I know we could keep the existing omnistor canopy out and over but I know how fragile these are in any moderately high or gusty winds so often wind it in to prevent damage.
