Does anyone know best way to replace top bunk in Peugeot Elddis 1998 Motorhome that has got water damaged? I do need to do rails to front of van prior to replacing inside top bunk to ensure source is repaired.
Do not know that van but have repaired a few older vans.
The trick is to understand how these wood framed vans were built, usually side and rear panels built as an assembly then fixed to the floor structure so the attaching hardware goes in from the outside then covered with panels or trim, similar with the roof skin. This means it is difficult to remove rotten wood from the inside, it can be done but be aware of these now hidden screws. You just have to dig out what you can then use a wood hardener to stiffen things up then paint with fibreglass resin.
Cunningly shaped wooden repair parts can be glued in with a polyurathane adhesive. Your repair will last as long as the rest of the van.
